Yasushi Santo

As principal of YS Energy Research, Yashui Santo offers consulting services in the field of energy use and renewable energy. He is also a visiting professor at the Kwansei Gakuin University's Graduate School of Policy Study. Santo has translated many energy- and environment-related books into Japanese, the latest of which was "Small Is Profitable," written by Amory B. Lovins, CEO of the Rocky Mountain Institute in Snowmass, Colorado. After graduating from the University of Tokyo's Law Department in 1961, Santo joined the staff of Osaka Gas Company, where he initially worked in the fields of human resources, business system analysis for main-frame computers, and public relations and marketing. He later served as manager of research in the corporate planning office and as general manager of the utility's international business department. In addition, in 1966, Santo studied at the University of Michigan's Graduate School of Business Administration as Fulbright Scholar, served as field-test manager in the late 1970s for the test of a 40-kilowatt phosphoric acid fuel cell unit, served as the general manager of Osaka Gas' London office for four years in the mid 1980s, and managed the utility's Research Institute for Culture, Energy, and Life. He also served as a board member of GreenEnergy.com for five years.
