Bike to Work Bike to Work Day. Over 1,000 businesses across the metro area—including E Source—support this annual event, which underscores Colorado's efforts to embrace sustainable living. The Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG), brings together city and county governments and other interested groups each year to promote Bike to Work Day, raising awareness of the benefits of commuting by bicycle, bus, and on foot. E Source has been participating in this event for four years now, and we're delighted to report that in 2009 we qualified as the Boulder County Business Challenge Winner for Class B (30 to 99 employees)!

Western Disposal Western Disposal's GreenSmart Program. E Source joined Western Disposal's innovative program in 2007. Being GreenSmart means taking responsibility for your business' waste stream, and Western Disposal gives its customers the tools they need to more effectively reduce, reuse, and recycle their waste. We're working toward becoming a "zero waste" facility by taking advantage of Western Disposal's new composting and recycling services. The amazing thing is that the composting is all done within the Boulder city limits, and the resulting topsoil is sold for minimal cost to residents and local landscaping businesses.

wind turbines Xcel Energy's Windsource Program. Xcel Energy gives residential and commercial customers the option of purchasing wind-generated electricity. E Source is 100 percent powered by wind energy, thanks to this program.

10 for change City of Boulder’s 10 for Change Challenge. E Source is proud to announce that we are participating in this new initiative. Boulder area businesses that take the challenge pledge to reduce their energy consumption by 10 percent by maximizing the energy efficiency of their buildings. The 10 for Change challenge provides unique opportunities for participants to share their energy-saving ideas, assess their progress against that of other businesses, and discuss additional conservation steps such as recycling and waste management. ecopass Regional Transportation District's Eco Pass Program. Businesses can purchase yearly bus/light-rail passes from RTD, and E Source has provided its staff with Eco Passes for the past several years. Each participant gets a photo ID that allows them free travel anywhere on the RTD system. This encourages employees to take advantage of alternative methods of transportation, thereby helping to reduce traffic congestion. Employees use their Eco Passes for daily commutes to and from work, for trips to and from the Denver International Airport, and for recreational trips on their own time.
