Karen Lefkowitz serves as director for the Beyond the Meter Service and has over four decades of experience as an executive in the energy and technology industries. She has most recently delivered expert-level consultation on many topics, including smart grid issues, cybersecurity for energy systems, renewable energy, and the effects of transportation electrification plans on customers and communities. While working at Pepco, she was responsible for developing the Utility of the Future strategies, priorities, and plans—leading initiatives to improve the integration of distributed renewable energy and EV charging infrastructure.
She was also responsible for the enterprise-wide strategic vision for Pepco to implement business processes and technologies designed to help customers better manage their energy use and costs, improve reliability and customer service, and support environmentally friendly programs. Previously, Karen was responsible for the daily system operations of the electric system, the mass deployment of smart meters, and the implementation of distribution automation throughout service territories.
